Eclampsia, which refers to new onset of generalized convulsion of preeclampsia, is the most severe stage of preeclampsia. At present, eclampsia still remains a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. This paper reviews the progress in pathogenesis, clinical manifestation, diagnosis, management, short-term and long-term prognosis of eclampsia.
