Diagnosis and treatment of fetal thyroid disease

Abstract:

The condition of fetal thyroid disease is complex, even critical, and the incidence rate of fetal thyroid abnormalities is not high. Clinicians lack experience in diagnosis and treatment. This review summarizes related clinical problems, to improve clinicians′ ability to identify and deal with fetal thyroid disease. Fetal surveillance should be performed in women who have uncontrolled hyperthyroidism in the second half of pregnancy, and in women with high TRAb levels. Fetal thyroid enlargement is a direct signal of fetal thyroid dysfunction.
