Abstract:

Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the leading causes of maternal death, most of which are preventable with or without creating certain conditions. Although, in recent years, with the popularization of the guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage, concrete progress has been made in the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage during delivery. However, the rate of decrease in postpartum hemorrhage is slowing, and the notion of prevention must be extended to the prenatal period. Iron deficiency anemia is the most prevalent cause of anemia during pregnancy, owing to the physiological changes and features of pregnancy. It is also a major risk factor for postpartum hemorrhage and a higher risk in blood transfusions. Iron deficiency anemia is preventable and treatable with enough iron supplementation. However, it is frequently ignored in clinical diagnosis and therapy. This article aims to describe the health care and diagnosis and treatment strategies of pregnancy-related iron deficiency anemia, in order to reduce postpartum hemorrhage and ensure the safety of mother and baby.
