Abstract:

Pregnancy complicated with intestinal obstruction is a rare but severe surgical acute abdominal disease. There are some clinical features of pregnancy induced intestinal obstruction, limited auxiliary examination methods, and easy misdiagnosis or delayed treatment. Inappropriate treatment can lead to adverse pregnancy outcomes. The key to diagnosis and treatment is to learn the characteristics of intestinal obstruction in pregnancy, attach importance to early identification of risk factors, once typical symptoms and positive signs appear, we should highly suspect the possibility of intestinal obstruction, emphasize multidisciplinary cooperation in the diagnosis and treatment process, and the treatment principle is the same as that in non pregnancy. Non strangulating intestinal obstruction can be treated conservatively under close observation, and surgery should be carried out as soon as possible when the disease progresses or strangulating intestinal obstruction is considered. When deciding on the surgical plan, it is crucial to consult surgery, obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine specialists to weigh the risks and benefits for both the mother and the fetus based on the gestational age, ultimately devising a comprehensive management strategy.
