Application of uterine packing in postpartum hemorrhage

Abstract:

Postpartum hemorrhage is the first cause of maternal mortality in China and most developing countries. When postpartum hemorrhage happens, the cause should be found out as soon as possible and comprehensive therapy should be carried out. In this article, the author discusses the non-surgical approach——uterine packing for postpartum hemorrhage. To reduce the hysterectomy rate, gauze and balloon catheter are usually put into the uterine cavity for hemostasis; in recent years, Bakri Balloonas is the preferred choice.
